It is with great honor that Russell Law Offices, SC announces that as of October 22, 2021 Vance Law Office, SC of Fort Atkinson has merged with Russell Law Offices, SC to form Vance & Russell Law Office, a division of Russell Law Offices, SC. This merger allows for a seamless transition for Vance Law Office, SC clients, past and present, following the unfortunately passing of Attorney James Vance. Vance Law Office, SC has a long history in the Fort Atkinson community and Jefferson County. The firm was originally established in 1867. The firm, located at 79 N. Main Street, Fort Atkinson since 1959, has been assisting clients with real estate, estate planning, business law, contracts, municipal, and probate/trust administration for over 154 years.

Vance & Russell Law Office looks to continue to provide quality legal representation and expand our practice areas to serve all clients in the community. Russell Law Offices, S.C. Welcomes Attorney Jane Bucher!

Jane Bucher has extensive legal experience and is active in both the legal profession and the broader community. She has tried criminal, civil and juvenile cases, both to courts and juries.

Jane served as an Assistant State Public Defender from 2011 to 2021 and has handled more than 2,400 cases. As a public defender, she represented children, juveniles, and adults who could not otherwise afford an attorney in both criminal and civil cases including CHIPS cases, termination of parental rights, mental health commitments, protective placement cases.

She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin law school (2010). Attorney Bucher’s diverse legal training included internships at the Restorative Justice/Family Law Project in Madison; in the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office; and at the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Attorney Bucher helped lead the creation and funding of the Green County Drug court in 2017. She has also been active in working to improving children’s courts by serving on the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board Chapter 48 Subcommittee and the Youth Justice Statewide Assessment Implementation Policy and Document Development Subcommittee. Attorney Bucher is a graduate (2019) of the Juvenile Training Immersion Program Summer Academy at Georgetown Law in Washington D.C.

Attorney Bucher was appointed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court to the Office of Lawyer Regulation District 12 Committee (2015-present) and was elected to serve on the Wisconsin State Bar Board of Governors, representing District 12. Attorney Bucher previously served as the President of the Green County Bar Association (2015).

Active in the broader community, she is a founding member of the Green County MultiCultural Outreach Program (MCOP), which brings people together to build bridges between community members from diverse backgrounds. She currently serves on the board of Green County Family Promise and she previously volunteered for Green County Big Brothers Big Sisters from 2018-2021. Attorney Bucher was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal (2006-2008). She lives in Monroe with her husband, Ruedi, a cheesemaker born in Switzerland, and sons, Quinn and Xavier.

Russell Law Offices, S.C. is proud to welcome Attorney Michael Schulz to our growing legal team. Mike is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, and is excited to be representing clients throughout Southwest Wisconsin. Mike’s practice focuses on employment law, estate planning, family law, and consumer protection.

While attending law school, Mike gained civil litigation experience as part of the Consumer Law Clinic where he helped clients with a range of consumer protection issues. Mike was also a part of the Prosecution Project in Waukesha County where he represented the State in criminal matters. Most recently, he interned under Justice Karofsky with the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Prior to attending law school, Mike earned a degree in history at UW Milwaukee. After graduation he worked for Alliance for the Great Lakes out of their Milwaukee office doing community outreach, organizing beach clean ups, and educating Milwaukee area students about the Great Lakes.

Mike lives in the area with his fiancé, Abby, who is a kindergarten teacher. Together they have two rescue cats, Cleo and Tut. Outside the office, Mike is an avid Bucks fan. He also enjoys playing disc golf, hiking in the mountains, and playing chess. Mike currently works in the Cuba City location of Russell Law Offices.

Russell Law Offices, S.C. is proud to welcome Attorney Peter Konz to our growing legal team. Peter recently graduated with honors from the Wisconsin Law School. Peter has experience in real estate, contract, probate, and general civil litigation. Moreover, as a law student, Peter furthered his legal career student clerking in the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as well as assisting clients in their criminal appeals with UW’s Criminal Appeals Project.

Prior to his legal career, Peter was an All-State football player. Thereafter, he achieved All-American status and Big Ten academic and athletic honors playing for the Wisconsin Badger football team. Upon graduation, Peter was drafted in the second round of the NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons where he played for four years. After playing in the NFL, Peter returned home to Wisconsin where he pursued his legal career.

Peter is a proud Wisconsinite. He grew up in Neenah, Wisconsin, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications and his Juris Doctorate from UW-Madison. He now enjoys riding ATVs, hunting, swimming, boating, and hiking Southwest Wisconsin with his wife and two kids.

Russell Law Offices, S.C. is proud to welcome Attorney Alex Levy to our team. Alex is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, and is excited to be representing clients throughout Southwest Wisconsin. Alex's practice focuses on commercial, municipal, and real estate litigation, as well as contract review, negotiation for businesses and estate planning. Alex is always looking for innovative ways to help clients.

Alex was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2015, then spent two years working in the real estate industry, before beginning law school in 2017. Prior to joining the team at Russell Law Offices, Alex worked in-house at a real estate company. During Alex's time in law school, he participated in the Neighborhood Law Clinic, litigating landlord-tenant and employment disputes. He also spent time interning at the Public Defender’s Office.

In his free time, Alex enjoys watching movies, listening to audiobooks, and spending time with friends and family. Playing soccer, running, and biking are a few of his favorite fitness pastimes. He also loves learning new things, and takes every opportunity to talk to people about their interests and passions.
