Meyhouse is built on the Turkish tradition of the meyhane, a gathering house where good food and long conversation are the whole point. Expect beautifully composed meze, grilled specialties, and seafood prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Twenty five years on, we remember.

Today our thoughts are with the families who lost someone on September 11, 2001, and with the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and volunteers who ran toward the danger while others ran from it.

The August numbers are in for Danville and San Ramon, and I've enjoyed digging into them!

If your holiday list includes someone who already has everything, Home Consignment Center in Danville is where I would begin 🎁 The showroom turns over daily, with fine jewelry and watches, authenticated designer handbags, original art, and beautifully made furniture, all at consignment prices. Family owned since 1994 and open seven days a week.

Two things I have learned over the years: shop early, because the exceptional pieces do not linger, and use their complimentary 24-hour holds when something deserves a second thought.

And a note for anyone thinking about listing in the new year. Consigning the furnishings that will not make the move is one of the simplest ways to help a home show beautifully, and it puts money back in your pocket rather than into a storage unit.
