FEATURE FRIDAY!!! Danville officials broke ground Wednesday on the two new community spaces near the Danville Library and Town Green.

The new 1,211-square-foot permanent pavilion on the Town Green for concerts, performances, and other community programming.

The future Art District Makers Space will provide a dedicated location for art, workshops, classes, and community programming for all ages will include an interior that can serve as either one large classroom or two separate classrooms. The facility will include a kiln, and support programming like painting, pottery, ceramics, and more.

The combined cost of both projects is $3.3 million, funded by the town’s Capital Improvement Program aimed to expand opportunities for arts, recreation, and community program; strengthen the Town Green and Arts District as a community hub, and encourage residents and visitors to spend time downtown.

MARKET MONDAY!!! Imagine waiting a year to buy a home, only to find mortgage rates haven’t changed much. That may sound frustrating. But it’s a real possibility.

If you’re waiting for rates to fall, you’re not alone. A recent survey from Clever-Best Interest found 42% of people believe mortgage rates will drop below 5% this year.

The challenge is that’s not what the experts who study mortgage rates every day are expecting. Forecasts from Fannie Mae, the Mortgage Bankers Association, and Wells Fargo all show mortgage rates staying relatively steady in the low-to-mid 6% range through at least mid-2027.

Historically, mortgage rates have spent the majority of their time somewhere between about 5% and 10%. It just feels high because we all remember the ultra-low rates homeowners got during the pandemic.

The celebration begins with storytime at the library at 11:15 a.m., followed by a free children’s concert on the Town Green. At 1 p.m., families can return to the library for book-themed crafts and activities.

The celebration will allow families an opportunity to recognize this milestone while enjoying the kinds of programs and shared experiences that have made the Library and Community Center important parts of Danville for the past 30 years!
