When I created The Mermaid Lawyer®, I knew it wasn’t what people expected from an attorney. People are still surprised when they find out the mermaid is a lawyer, or that the lawyer is a professional mermaid.

Having an unconventional brand doesn’t diminish your credibility. It allows you to build a practice that’s authentic to who you are and attract the clients you genuinely enjoy working with.

Seventeen years into my career, building The Mermaid Lawyer® into a brand that reflects who I am has made practicing law more fulfilling and transformed my practice in ways I never expected.

The Mermaid Lawyer® wasn’t the scary part.

The scary part was knowing people would make assumptions before they ever got to know me or see my work.

That someone who embraces creativity, color, and fun couldn’t also be a serious attorney.

Several years later, I can honestly say building this brand has been one of the most magical, fulfilling, and rewarding journeys of my career.

The lesson?

You don’t have to fit someone else’s idea of professionalism to be exceptional at what you do.

The people who value your work will remember your excellence. Your authenticity is simply what makes you unforgettable.
