AI Puts Seniors at Risk For Fraud
According to the Dallas Observer:
“Last year, the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) received over 1 million reports of fraud, a 26% increase from the previous year. Of those reports, adults over 60 made up 201,266 – totaling over $7.7 billion in losses. Adults aged 50-59 were the second highest, with 124,820 complaints and over $3.6 billion in losses.
According to annual IC3 reports, Texas has been second behind California for the number of fraud victims since 2023.”
Fraud crimes against older adults rose from last year, as the rise of AI is making it harder to notice scams.
