Count to 13.

By the time you do, statistically, someone in the U.S. will have been injured in a motor vehicle crash.

In 2024 alone, about 2.42 million people were injured on our nation's roads. It's a powerful reminder that every trip deserves your attention.🚗

A few extra feet can make all the difference.

This diagram illustrates the major blind spots surrounding a semi-truck. Staying out of these "No-Zones" gives truck drivers more opportunity to see you and helps keep everyone on the road safer.

⚠️ Don't linger beside a truck.
➡️ Pass decisively.
🚗 Leave plenty of following distance.

Your GPS can get you to your destination—but it won't remind you of these often-overlooked Texas road laws:

1. Move Over or Slow Down. If you see emergency vehicles, tow trucks, or TxDOT vehicles with flashing lights, move over a lane when it's safe or slow down by at least 20 mph below the speed limit (or to 5 mph if the limit is under 25 mph).
2. Headlights = Wipers. If your windshield wipers are in continuous use because of rain, Texas law requires your headlights to be on too.
3. Signal Before You Turn. Your turn signal should be activated at least 100 feet before turning or changing lanes.
4. Don't Drive Through Flooded Roads. It may seem obvious, but ignoring barricades or attempting to drive through flooded roadways can lead to serious danger and legal consequences.
5. Left Lane Isn't for Cruising. On many highways, the left lane is designated for passing. Staying there and impeding traffic can result in a citation.

💡 A few seconds of knowledge can help keep you, your passengers, and everyone else on the road safer.
Drive smart. Drive safe.

Before you hit the road, keep these five summer driving tips in mind:

1. Check your vehicle: Inspect your tires, fluids, brakes, and battery before a long trip.
2. Plan ahead: Review your route, expected traffic, and possible stops before leaving.
3. Stay alert: Get plenty of rest and take breaks when you begin to feel tired.
4. Put the phone away: Keep your attention on the road and avoid distracted driving.
5. Prepare for emergencies: Pack water, a first-aid kit, jumper cables, and other basic supplies.

A little preparation can help make your summer travels safer and smoother. Drive safely and enjoy the journey! 🚗☀️

🇺🇸 With the Fourth of July just around the corner, now is the time to prioritize safety before the celebrations begin.

Whether you're enjoying fireworks, firing up the grill, or celebrating with family and friends, taking a few extra precautions can help make the holiday safe for everyone.

1️⃣ Keep fireworks at a safe distance.
Follow local laws, keep children and pets away, and never relight a firework that doesn't ignite.

2️⃣ Protect yourself from the heat.
Drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and take breaks in the shade throughout the day.

3️⃣ Stay alert around grills and open flames.
Keep grills away from homes and dry grass, and never leave them unattended while cooking.

4️⃣ Keep pets safe indoors.
Fireworks can be frightening for pets, so keep them inside with updated ID tags or microchip information.
