Dallas—An Addison-based drilling company caused the gas leak that resulted in the catastrophic explosion killing three in an Oak Cliff apartment building this week.
The attorney for the Clyde apartments stated that photographic evidence matching Barba Drilling Company, LLC’s name and logo—https://www.facebook.com/p/Barba-Drilling-Co-61561727489455/—confirmed that the company had been boring on the Clyde when the gas leak occurred.
The property’s attorney Geoff Henley said, “Barba’s truck was effectively at ground zero of the explosion, as footage from a drone we employed and news outlets show. The truck is now a white burned up shell. Before the explosion, it was a mustard rig with big “B” logo encompassing a drill bit.”
Henley reiterated the Clyde’s management’s condolences for the deaths, injuries and displacements. “The management team has been cooperating with investigators and helping with housing needs.”
The attorney further expressed anger and frustration, though, with the investigation. “While we’re trying to help authorities get answers. We’re not getting our questions answered or access to our only property. We’re having to piece this big puzzle together one piece at a time over time—when it is more than apparent that Atmos and government investigators have a far more complete picture of how this catastrophe occurred.”
Henley added that a handful comments on Barba’s Facebook inquiring as to the company’s role in the explosion have likewise gone unanswered.“Even figuring out something as simple as who Barba was required more than a little sleuthing because we haven’t access to the truck. But we’re going to press authorities and others for answers critical questions.”
The attorney indicated, though, that the Texas Comptroller filings state that the company’s stated owner is Lizette Garza Lavalle and the manager and registered agent is Manuel DeJesus Barba. Public records further indicate that both Barba and Lavalle reside at the same address, 15750 Seabolt, Addison, Texas 75001.
