Talley Richardson & Cable chose Paulding County High School senior, Miss Laila Swanson, for the Glenda Thomason Memorial Scholarship. Laila began working with the law firm of Talley, Richardson & Cable in September of 2023 as an intern through the Paulding County Work-Based Learning Program. Laila’s future plans include attending Georgia Northwestern Technical College in the fall with an interest in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. We are so happy that Laila will continue to work part-time for Talley, Richardson & Cable while she’s attending college.

We are so deeply saddened to share that Mr. James B. Talley, Jr., passed away on June 9th, 2024. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12th, from 12-2 at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home, 3940 Macland Road, Powder Springs, GA and the funeral will follow after the visitation. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Ramona and his three children Krista, Jimmy and Dougie.

Jim was a graduate of Presbyterian College, Clinton, South Carolina (BA History, 1970) and Walter F. George School of Law (Mercer University) (JD, 1979) where he was on the Mercer Law Review. He became a member of the Georgia Bar in 1979 and joined the firm in 1987. Among his greatest accomplishments, prior to law school, was his time in the military where he served his country as a pilot in the United States Marine Corps for six years in active duty and for 26 years in the Reserves, retiring in 2004 as Colonel James B. Talley, Jr.

During his legal career, where he focused on real estate matters and estate law, Jim was also very active in many civic and community activities in Paulding county. To name a few - he was a former Director of the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Star Student Committee, Secretary of the Board for Paulding Enterprises, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Chattahoochee Technical College, President of the Paulding County Civitan Club, member of the State Properties Commission and the Georgia Building Authority and served on the Paulding County Airport Authority.

We will certainly miss our partner, colleague and friend. Fly High Colonel - Semper Fidelis!

Glenda Thomason Memorial Scholarship Presented to Dylan Hembree

Talley Richardson & Cable chose Paulding County High School senior, Mr. Dylan Hembree, for the Glenda Thomason Memorial Scholarship. Dylan began working with the law firm of Talley, Richardson & Cable in July of 2022 as an intern through the Paulding County Work-Based Learning Program. He plans on attending the University of West Georgia in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a major in Management Information Systems and a concentration in cybersecurity. We are so happy that Dylan will continue to work part-time for Talley, Richardson & Cable while he’s attending college.

Congratulations to everyone involved- it was a pleasure working with everyone!

On Wednesday I had the pleasure of assisting and Jordan purchase their first home together! It has been such a fun two months working together! We listed their home and closed on it in July, but had a month to wait until their new home was finished! Being able to walk with them through this process as they designed and watch their new home come to life was so much fun! I’m really going to miss all the progress photos, updates and excitement that came with each new step. But I am so happy for them. A special thank you to our wonderful lender , Beth Southern who was also with us every step of the process!
