VENEZUELA TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS PROGRAM

On March 8, 2021, the Department of Homeland Security announced that Temporary Protected Status (TPS) would be extended to citizens of Venezuela. It is estimated that over 320,000 Venezuelans may be eligible for this significant benefit. During the TPS designation period, TPS beneficiaries are eligible to remain in the United States, may not be deported, and are authorized to obtain work permits so long as they continue to meet the requirements of TPS. Further, TPS beneficiaries may also apply for and be granted travel authorization as a matter of discretion. There are a few basic requirements for eligibility, but besides being able to prove Venezuelan citizenship, the beneficiary must be able to prove that they have continuously resided in the U.S. since March 8, 2021. The window to file the TPS application opens on March 9, 2021 and will close on September 5, 2021. This means there is a limited amount of time to file the application. If you or someone you know may be eligible for TPS, we strongly encourage you to contact our office immediately ar 214-692-8800. This type of benefit does not come around often and should not be ignored.
