As many of you are aware, Dallas County recently enacted a "stay at home" order.

For those of you wondering how this affects your ability to leave your home for recreation, here is some guidance straight from the order.

For purposes of this Order, individuals may leave their residence only to engage in outdoor activity, provided the individuals comply with social distancing requirements of six feet (for example, walking, biking, hiking, or running).

In other words, you can engage in outdoor activity as long as you adhere to the social distancing guidelines!

Allstate's best drivers report found Dallas falls in the bottom 15% of cities for safe-driving records, based on its analysis of 200 major cities.

Texas leads the nation in traffic deaths. At least one person has been killed on Texas roads every day for the past 19 years, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

Dallas drivers experience a collision every seven years on average, meaning commuters here are about 46% more likely to get into a wreck than the average U.S. driver, the study found. The average U.S. driver experiences some sort of collision once every 10.5 years, according to Allstate's analysis.

Did you know that Texas law REQUIRES that a Crash Report (Form CR-2) known as a "Blue form" be filed when an accident occurs that results in injury or death, or when damage to property or vehicles is more than $1,000, if law enforcement does not come to the accident scene or complete a report?

On May 22, 2018, Plano PD will be at Highway 75 and Park conducting traffic enforcement and will work their way towards Legacy and 75.

This is the CORRECT way to turn at a median. Not only does this allow both drivers to view oncoming traffic, but it also keeps the driver in the correct lane.

***Traffic Tip Tuesday***

This may seem a little different than what we are used to but the diagram is the correct way to make a turn at a sufficient median. In fact if you think about it, it's also the safest.

Transportation code 545.051 says "an operator on a roadway of sufficient width shall drive on the right half of the roadway" and TRC 545.052 says "an operator moving in the opposite direction of the movement of another operator shall move to and remain to the right'.

We have been asked this question several times so we researched it with our traffic officers and TXDPS. Hope you have a great and safe week.
