During an extraordinary eight-day period this spring, the SMU community welcomed three sitting United States Supreme Court Justices for major public conversations.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson visited SMU as part of the Tate Distinguished Lecture Series. Justice Amy Coney Barrett and Justice Neil Gorsuch participated in programs hosted by the George W. Bush Presidential Center on the SMU campus.

Together, the three events created a rare moment of national constitutional dialogue for students, faculty, alumni, and the broader Dallas legal community.

Earlier this month, SMU had the privilege of welcoming Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Hilltop.

Justice Jackson spoke candidly about her historic path from Harvard Law to the nation's highest bench, realities of judicial service, the role of law in protecting individual rights, and the importance of diverse perspectives in shaping constitutional interpretation.

SMU Dedman School of Law’s Small Business and Trademark Clinic is honored to receive the 2026 Fritz Lanham Trademark Award from the State Bar of Texas Intellectual Property Law Section.

The Fritz Lanham Trademark Award is presented in recognition of outstanding achievement in brand-related projects and trademark law by a lawyer, legal team, or organization.

The award will be presented at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting in Houston next month.
