After graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree at Universidad Pedagogica Nacional de Colombia, she was nationally selected to participate in a Cultural Exchange Scholarship in the United States and has since become a United States Citizen. She obtained her Juris Doctorate Degree at Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. As the first immigrant from her family to come to the United States, sh
e worked full time to support herself through law school where she also managed to obtain the distinction of being named to the Dean’s List. While completing her studies at Capital Law, she also enrolled and completed a negotiations program at Harvard University Law School. Her dedication to pro bono work was recognized when she graduated law school with pro bono honors. She has since returned to Texas as a licensed attorney after having successfully passed the Texas Bar exam on first attempt. As the first immigrant from her family, she understands the relevance of immigration cases in the lives of people and the stresses involved with the process. In her view, immigration processes not only define the destiny of individuals, but also the destinies of families and communities. Prior to attending law school, Alexandra worked as an educator in Dallas, Texas. She realized the fears and struggles many Hispanic families faced because of their immigration status, and saw first-hand the adverse impact of these circumstances on the education of Hispanic children. She strongly believes in the potential of the Hispanic community when afforded equal justice and equal opportunities under the law. This belief has helped shape her career goals to become an immigration and criminal law attorney working to make a difference in her community. Alexandra’s practice currently focuses in the areas of both Immigration and Criminal Law. There is an overlap of great importance between these two areas when it comes to immigrants. Her practice also deals with cases of deportation/removal proceedings and obtaining immigration bonds from ICE. Alexandra also devotes a great part of her practice to other immigration services such as citizenships, DACA, TPS, renewals of green cards, adjustment of status, waivers, advance paroles, among others. In addition to the services mentioned above, she works with cases where her clients are facing criminal charges and have an immigration hold. Alexandra is a passionate attorney who strives to protect the best interests of her clients, and fights to ensure that her clients are satisfied with the outcome of their case. Alexandra will be attending the Advanced Negotiations Program at Harvard University during August 2017. She believes that dedication to constant learning and ongoing education is highly important to serving her clients to the best of her ability.
