1099 season is the *unnecessarily* stressful beginning of tax season for contractors and small business owners but it doesn’t have to cost you your sanity!

Here are my top 4 options for filing 1099s:

1️⃣ Have me do it 😉

You walked right into that one... but if you need 1099 help, I’m your girl!

I’ll help you track what you paid to each vendor and get the correct forms filed on time without *too* much effort on your part.

2️⃣ Use your bookkeeping software.

If you’ve been tracking vendor payments in your bookkeeping, you could totally file your 1099s yourself if your bookkeeping software has that option (and most of the good ones do!).

3️⃣ Use a 1099 filing service.

If you aren’t going to use your bookkeeping software, look into 1099 filing platforms like track1099.com or tax1099.com.

4️⃣ File for FREE through the IRS.

You can use the IRIS Taxpayer Portal to file and track IRS acceptance of your 1099s for free!

Santa isn't the only one who should be making a list (and checking it twice) this December! 🎅

It's time to start making your 1099-NEC list of any non-employees (independent contractors) you paid $600 or more to this year.

Here's what you'll want to include:

→ The names of all contractors you paid $600 or more for their services.

→ Signed W-9s from each contractor.

→ The total paid to each contractor in 2025.

Instead of calling back a suspicious voicemail like this one, they reached out to me first.

Voicemails claiming things like:
❌ “Unresolved tax matters”
❌ “Urgent attention required”
❌ “You still have options, call us now”
❌ “Relief programs available but time is important”

🚩🚩🚩 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐬.

Here’s what you need to know:
✅ The IRS does 𝐧𝐨𝐭 cold-call you about tax issues
✅ The IRS does 𝐧𝐨𝐭 pressure you with urgency
✅ The IRS communicates primarily by 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹, not voicemails
✅ Third-party “tax support” companies often use fear-based messaging

Tax season is here and unfortunately, so are the scams.

If you ever receive a call, voicemail, text, or email like this:
👉 Don’t call back
👉 Don’t share personal info
👉 Reach out to your tax professional first
