You paid for the work. That does not automatically answer the question of who owns it.
That question becomes especially important when you hire freelancers.
A work made for hire provision can affect who owns qualifying work created under a freelance agreement, but the phrase is not a magic ownership switch.
Whether the work qualifies depends on the circumstances, the type of work involved, and the agreement's structure.
If your business is paying someone to create your logo, website content, photography, video, software, or other creative work, ownership should be addressed before the work begins.
