It's been an action-packed couple of weeks! Last week I headed to Fargo for the REALTORĀ® Convention of the Dakotas, and the education was stellar. I learned more about AI in real estate, how to handle Realtor burnout, and my favorite class of all was on our value as Realtors and the importance of agency.
I came home fired up and ready to tackle the real estate world... which is a good thing, because since I've been back I've probably shown over 20 properties, had three closings, and taken on a new listing! The market is TOUGH right now....super tough for sellers. So every showing is a glimmer of hope for someone!
So why am I sharing all this? Because one thing from last week has stuck with me. We learned that Realtors face some of the highest rates of su***de of any industry. It's tough to be everything to everyone. We're "on" almost all the time, answering calls and texts morning, noon, and night. I don't think I've ever gone anywhere without someone asking for a market update or "what's my house worth today?" I love what I do, but it can be mentally draining.
So to my fellow colleagues: it's okay to set boundaries. It's okay to let a call go to voicemail at dinner, to take a day off, and to ask for help when you need it. Check in on each other. A simple "how are you really doing?" can mean more than you know.
And to my clients and friends, thank you for your patience and grace when we can't answer right away. We're usually showing, closing, or just catching our breath. š
If you or someone you know is struggling, you can call or text 988 anytime.
p.s. I barely took any photos so they don't even begin to capture the dear colleagues from across the state that I got to enjoy, compare market notes and just have a cocktail together!
