Incredible news! I know so many of our clients will be thrilled as they have been stuck, separated from their families since the ban was announced in late January. This ban has prevented visa applicants from 75 countries, including Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala, Pakistan, and many others from being able to (even though approvable and passing all background checks and having all required paperwork) live here in the U.S. with their loved ones. It's been heartbreaking that for 8 months, we've had to tell newlyweds, children petitioning for aging parents, dying fathers petitioning for adult sons, that their family members cannot come to the U.S. - with no exception - until this ban is lifted. And as per usual, our government did nothing in 8 months to provide guidance or updates - for instance, new evidence to provide to show you have the financial support required, or a new form that would need to be submitted, or additional checks the consulate would need to perform.) No, just silence for 8 months while people are kept in the dark, not able to be with their families. Finally, the ban is lifted. Now, we can get back to work reunited deserving, loving families.
Now we wait to see what happens with any appeal.
The Trump administration’s ban on visas for immigrants from 75 countries was struck down by a federal judge on Friday, who ruled it was “contrary to law” and outside the statutory authority of Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
