Attorney Fech tried a cold case triple homicide during the spring of 2022. Following a conviction, his client took an appeal as of right to the Indiana Court of Appeals. Despite not requesting oral argument by his client's appellate counsel, the Indiana Court of Appeals took up the matter and scheduled it for Oral Arguments at Franklin College on April 18, 2023 at 1:45 p.m. There were a number of interesting legal issues that arose in this case and should be an interesting oral argument before the Court of Appeals.

Here is another example of our broken criminal justice system. In this case, the jury voted 11-1 to sentence this person to life in prison without the possibility of parol. Depsite this overwhelming recommendation, the Judge sentenced him to death anyways. We can and should do better. The 6th Amendment requires it.

Alabama plans to execute on Thursday an inmate whose jury's 11-1 vote for a life sentence was overridden by the trial judge who opted instead for the death penalty, a practice the state has since repealed.
