A few years ago, The Fox Theater & The Fox Gives Back, Inc. joined forces with Cadenhead Services, Inc. and Cadenhead Services, Inc. with one very special goal: bringing Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to children right here in Okaloosa County. ❤️📚
The idea behind Dolly’s program is beautifully simple. Children enrolled in the Imagination Library receive a carefully selected, age-appropriate book mailed directly to their home every month, from birth until their fifth birthday, at no cost to their family. Month after month, those little books arrive with a child’s name on the package, helping build home libraries, encouraging parents and children to read together, and introducing a love of reading long before the first day of kindergarten.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton. Her legacy reaches far beyond the songs she wrote and the stages she graced. Through the Imagination Library, she turned her love of books and children into something tangible that will live on in millions of homes and, we hope, for generations to come.
We are incredibly proud that a small piece of that legacy lives here in Okaloosa County. The Fox Gives Back and Cadenhead Services will honor Dolly in the way that feels most fitting: by continuing the work. We will keep putting books into little hands, one mailbox at a time. ❤️
And there is another very special legacy woven into this mission. Donations made in memory of Justin Zemser will continue helping us provide Imagination Library books to children throughout Okaloosa County. Through those gifts, Justin’s memory becomes part of countless childhood stories, bedtime routines, first favorite books, and the beginnings of a lifelong love of reading.
Two legacies. Thousands of books. And so many little imaginations still waiting to be opened.
Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for reminding the world that sometimes changing a child’s future begins with something as simple as a book. 📖✨
