do you know where your birth certificate is? Do you have a valid passport? Is your full name the same as it was when you received these documents?
If your answer is no – like it is for millions of married women, trans people, and other people without easy access to their documents – the SAVE America Act could stop you from voting.
The Senate is debating whether or not to advance this voter suppression bill now, and it's on us to stop it. Your action today could help millions protect their right to vote.
We can block this bill from making it to the president's desk. Will you tell your senators to vote against advancing this discriminatory bill?
TAKE ACTION
The SAVE America Act adds extreme requirements for registering to vote or updating your registration information. You'd need citizenship documents like a valid passport, birth certificate, or naturalization papers. If you don't have access to these documents, you'd need to pay to replace them. And if your name changed for any reason, creating a mismatch across IDs, you'd have to pay for a fix, too – or risk being blocked from exercising your fundamental right to vote.
The values at stake are clear. You shouldn't have to pay for updated or replacement documents, often months in advance, just to register to vote. Eligible voters shouldn't face more barriers between them and the polls.
Congress can't silence voters en masse. Join us today in urging your senators to reject this bill.
