04/18/2026
Starting May 18, 2026, USCIS will no longer allow attorneys and accredited representatives to participate remotely in affirmative asylum and NACARA 203 interviews (with limited exceptions).
All legal representatives must now attend interviews in person.
📌 What this means in practice:
— Attorneys will no longer be able to represent clients by phone or online
— You may need to travel to another city with your attorney for the interview
— Or find a local attorney where the interview is scheduled
— If you have relocated, you may need to change your attorney
Be sure to take this into account when planning your immigration process.
