I wanted to tell him that I settled a case the week before for $2,000,000. And another for $1,250,000 right before that.
But I knew that his offer of $7,600 wasn't going to increase by me puffing out my chest about my big results on other cases.
I had to clench my teeth and force myself to keep my focus on the facts of this case.
My client got rear ended hard. He went to the ER. He had to take time off work to go to physical therapy. He owed thousands of dollars in medical bills, and State Farm was not even offering enough to pay his medical bills.
I spent 28 minutes on the phone with this insurance adjuster, rebutting his arguments on the case one by one, carefully resisting the urge to brag about victories on other matters.
If you're expecting this story to end with that $7,600 offer turning into another $1,000,000 resolution, you're going to be very disappointed by this story.
28 minutes of debate later, the insurance company increased its offer to $10,000.
After more back-and-forth, the offer is higher than that now, but it's still not high enough.
It would be great if life could be all grand slams. But big victories will be mixed together with frustration and strikeouts.
And all you can do is keep working, chipping away as best as you can to solve the problems on your plate. Both the big problems and the small ones.
