● "As You Like It", a pastoral comedy by William Shakespeare, is believed to have been written in 1599 and was first published in the First Folio in 1623. Though the date of its initial performance is uncertain, it is speculated that it may have been performed at Wilton House in 1603, a venue known for its literary activity under Mary Sidney in the late 16th century.

The play follows the heroine Rosalind, who, fleeing persecution in her uncle's court, seeks refuge in the Forest of Arden with her cousin Celia. In this enchanting forest, they encounter a host of memorable characters, including the melancholy Jaques, who famously declares, "All the world's a stage." Jaques, with his reflective and often cynical perspective, provides a stark contrast to the other characters, continually contemplating the hardships of life in the countryside.

Over time, "As You Like It" has elicited varied critical responses. While some critics have hailed it as a work of significant merit, others have considered it to be of lesser quality compared to Shakespeare's other plays.
