🎓Did you know that one your child turns 18, you no longer automatically have the same authority to access certain medical information, make healthcare decisions, or handle financial matters on their behalf?
Before they head to campus, consider talking with your college student about:
✔️ Healthcare Power of Attorney — allows someone they choose to make healthcare decisions if needed.
✔️ Financial Power of Attorney — can give a trusted person authority to handle specified financial matters.
✔️ HIPAA Authorization — can allow designated individuals to receive protected medical information.
College is a big step toward independence. Making sure a few important documents are in place can help both students and parents feel a little more prepared.
