CCPD Law Enforcement Explorer Post 133 “Our Best Today for a Better Tomorrow!"

The Corpus Christi Explorer Post 133 was formed in early 1972 as a living memorial, and to honor ALL fallen officers, after the death of John William Sartain (badge #133) E.O.W Aug. 20, 1971at the hands of a sniper at the old Corpus Christi Police Station located on Martin Luther King Blvd. The Explorers are affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America’s Learning For Life program which enhances self-

confidence, motivation, civic-mindedness, and cultivates strong leadership traits; characteristics which help young adults prepare for a career in law enforcement and to become future leaders. The purpose of this organization is to afford an opportunity for young adults in this community to observe, participate, and learn about law enforcement.

Day 5 and the final day of the week-long training session is COMPLETE! Post 133 wrapped up their week with Self Aide/Buddy Aide, Rescue Carries, and Control Techniques! The Explorers worked hard this week and get to enjoy a little down time before we jump right back in! Day 4 of Summer Academy brought so many adventures for Post 133! Explorers went with officers from Patrol, the Traffic Unit, and the Crime Reduction Unit all over the city to get a true experience of what law enforcement is all about! From traffic stops, to disturbances, to accidents, to thefts, Explorers were able to see first hand how officers keep our community safe. Explorers assisted with helping the elderly and even spotting an individual in distress and getting them immediate medical attention! Great job everyone!

Day 3 is DONE! Post 133 spent their morning in the Defensive Tactics room and the afternoon learning Leadership to include a visit from Chief Markle! What will Day 4 bring??????

Day 2 of Summer Academy complete! Explorers spent their morning becoming CPR Certified and this afternoon they spent some time with the West Oso Government program and then an introduction to Defensive Tactics! Tomorrow will bring more DT and Leadership! Stay tuned…..
