Let’s put market perspective into focus: Breaking even isn’t "devastating." 📉

Having lived through some incredibly tough real estate cycles, I’ve sat across from clients navigating short sales, facing foreclosure from medical bills, or bringing life savings to the closing table just to get out. Those situations are heartbreaking.

Selling a home and walking away with a neutral balance sheet? Disappointing if you wanted a big equity check, sure—but it’s not devastating.

I say this with total transparency: we recently closed on a home we bought two years ago, and after factoring in costs, we essentially broke even (and I was my own agent!).

Here is the reality of real estate:
