“Don’t worry. It’s a standard contract.”

I hear that phrase all the time.

But there is nothing “standard” about buying a $2 million, $5 million or $10 million property.

Your deposit isn’t standard.

Your liability isn’t standard.

Your inspection issues aren’t standard.

Your title risks, entity structure, tax considerations, financing deadlines and exit rights aren’t standard either.

High-net-worth buyers often have an entire team protecting their wealth: accountants, financial advisors, insurance professionals and wealth managers.

And then they make one of the largest purchases of their lives without their own attorney reviewing the deal.

That has never made sense to me.

For more than 25 years, I have represented buyers and sellers in Florida real estate transactions. My job isn’t simply to get you to closing.

It’s to look around the corner for the problem you don’t know is coming.

Because sophisticated buyers don’t just ask:

“Can I close?”

They ask:

“Am I protected if I do?”

We spend so much of our lives chasing the next goal, the next milestone, the next achievement, believing that success is found in doing more.

But somewhere along the way, many of us forget to simply be.

To put down the phone. To step away from the constant demands. To sit in the silence without feeling the need to fill it. To become present enough to hear our own thoughts, reconnect with what matters, and remember who we are beneath all the responsibilities we carry.

One of the greatest gifts I’ve given myself was saying yes to working with David Neagle. His program didn’t just challenge the way I think about business. It challenged the way I think about life, leadership, and the person I choose to become every day.

What I’ve discovered is that investing in yourself is never a selfish act. When you become more grounded, more intentional, more self-aware, everyone around you experiences the ripple effect. Your family feels your presence. Your friends receive your attention. Your team gains a stronger leader. Your clients are served by someone who shows up with greater clarity, compassion, and purpose.

I’m realizing that the greatest measure of success isn’t how busy we are or how much we accomplish. It’s whether the people we love receive the very best version of us.

That is the journey I’m on. Not toward perfection, but toward becoming more present, more intentional, and more grateful for every opportunity to grow.

What if the life you’re meant to live is hiding behind a door you never planned to open?

Thirty years ago, if you had told me I’d become a litigator, I would have smiled and told you that you had the wrong person. My future was accounting. Numbers made sense. Courtrooms did not.

Then one unexpected opportunity changed everything.

I accepted a receptionist position at a bankruptcy law firm. It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t part of some master plan. But that single “yes” exposed me to a world I never knew I was meant to be in.

Then came another defining moment.

When I bought my first home, the closing experience was so disappointing that I walked away with a promise to myself: If I ever became a lawyer, no client of mine would ever feel that unprotected.

That promise became my mission.

Today, you’ll find me in court five days a week advocating for my clients and protecting their property rights. Whether it’s an escrow dispute, a partition action, or a complex real estate litigation matter, I’m still working with numbers. The only difference is that today, those numbers represent someone’s home, wealth, business, or legacy.

Looking back, I’ve learned that our lives are rarely changed by the moments we plan for. They’re changed by the moments we almost overlook. One invitation. One decision. One experience. Those are the moments that quietly rewrite our future.

Sometimes the purpose of a season isn’t to take you where you expected to go. It’s to reveal who you were always meant to become.

Another smooth closing. Another happy client.

Today was especially meaningful because we had the honor of helping two veterans achieve homeownership through a VA loan.
