The Third District Court of Appeal affirmed the lower court’s decision in a highly contested dispute between two brothers-in-law over the ownership of a Panamanian private interest foundation and its multimillion-dollar asset. Rivero Mestre successfully moved to dismiss the case in the trial court on the grounds of forum non conveniens, arguing that the parties—both Panamanian residents—were engaged in a dispute centered on a Panamanian foundation and uniquely Panamanian legal issues.
