The Haggard Law Firm's Maegan Bridwell led a news conference today in Central Florida regarding a sexual abuse lawsuit involving allegations against the Sumter County School District.

The lawsuit alleges that multiple administrators at Wildwood Middle School failed to take action after several reports of sexual abuse involving a 16-year-old student and a teacher's aide. The school district employee has been arrested in connection with the allegations.

We commend the extraordinary bravery of our client, the victim's mother, who courageously spoke out to warn other parents and help ensure other families are aware of the allegations.

A website, SumterSchoolSexualAbuse.com, has been established for families of potential additional victims and witnesses who may have information about the alleged crimes to come forward confidentially.

The Haggard Law Firm remains committed to standing with survivors and their families and pursuing accountability when institutions fail to protect children.

A heartbreaking tragedy in Tampa where a young child with Autism drowned in an apartment complex retention pond. Our Maegan Bridwell was interviewed about the incident and the rising number of drownings across Florida, including the increased risk faced by children with autism. The tragedy is once again drawing attention to Florida's ongoing drowning crisis and the heightened water safety risks faced by children, especially those with autism.

At The Haggard Law Firm, we have represented families who have lost children to fatal drownings. Through the National Drowning Prevention Alliance we will continue to advocate for greater awareness, accountability, and water safety.
Every child deserves to be safe around water.
