I truly LOVE where I live. Calling Hilliard "home" leaves me with a sense of being proud. Here's what I mean... ⬇️

If you didn't hear, last week a water leak destroyed all of the toys collected and stored at Fire Station 83. They put out a plea to the community for help, and help we did.

Within hours, the Hilliard City Schools scheduled a "Fill the Bus" event to replenish the toys that were ruined.

Businesses donated and citizens hit the stores with the hopes to make a little child's Christmas a little sweeter.

Within 72 hours, Station 83 collected 3 times the amount that was lost and they actually ran out of storage space to collect any more. Woah! Talk about a community coming together to help.

Thank you, Hilliard, for your generosity! I am certain that there will be some extra magic and smiles around the Christmas trees this year.

I'm Ohioan by birth, but Hilliard by choice - and I'm dang proud of that.

Hi, I’m Jill Lightfoot! If you’re new here, or we haven’t had the chance to meet yet, I’m a Realtor here in the Columbus area, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

I recently attended a real estate marketing conference where one speaker shared something really profound. When you look at the numbers all together, it paints a picture that’s hard to ignore:

We’re living in a time where we’re more digitally connected than ever… yet people feel more alone than ever.

A few things that stood out to me:
• 74% of restaurant orders now take out.
• The average American watches 19 hours of TV every week.
• Loneliness harms your health as much as smoking 15 ci******es a day.
• Teens spend 1/3 of their waking hours on screens.
• A small 5% increase in time spent alone affects happiness the same as a 10% pay cut.
• Millennials and Gen Z hang out with friends 50% less than Gen X did in the early ’90s.
• Community involvement has dropped by more than half since the 80s and 90s.
• New homes are 50% larger than in the 70s… while families are smaller than ever.

And here’s the wild part: even social media isn’t really “social” anymore.

In a recent FTC antitrust case, Meta argued it’s not a social media company at all. Their own data shows that only a tiny fraction of our time on Facebook or Instagram is spent actually interacting with people we know.

Over 80% of time on Facebook — and over 90% on Instagram — is spent watching videos from strangers, chosen by algorithms designed to keep us scrolling.

Social media has basically become television.

So when you zoom out, the trend is clear:

We’re more entertained than ever… but far less connected.

And for someone like me - someone who helps people move in, move out, and plant new roots, this matters deeply.

Because people aren’t just looking for a house.

They’re looking for community.
They want neighbors who wave.
People who know their names.
Kids who grow up together.

A sense of belonging that no screen or algorithm can replace.

That talk was such a powerful reminder of why I love what I do.

Homes matter.
Community matters.
People matter.

And bringing people back together might be one of the most meaningful things any of us can do right now.

Have you heard of a $100 Tip Club? Well, a few friends and I started one while we were out to eat after attending a conference in Florida. It's where we go out to a local restaurant and each leave a $100 tip for the waiter/waitress.

This time around we gathered up a group of 18 realtors from around the US and went to Mantra. I was impressed with how delicious this restaurant was (it's at the Naples Grande Beach Resort.)

We got to get to know our waitress, Sanja, a bit while she waited on us. She's from Serbia (the hand signal she is showing in the picture means "Serbia") and is here on a work visa. She was an incredibly hard worker - she showed up, served us well, gave great suggestions and always had a smile on her face.

Sanja was absolutely flabbergasted when we handed her an $1800 tip. She later shared with us that this was truly going to help her SO much because this restaurant will be fully closed down for the next year (the hotel is being fully remodeled.) She is needing to find new work soon, so this will help that transition be a little more smooth.

I don't post this to get praise myself, but to say that our world is a better place when we spread positivity and lift each other up.
