Barkan Meizlish DeRose Cox, LLP

Barkan Meizlish DeRose Cox, LLP Our firm proudly continues to provide aggressive representation to victims of wage theft. We've never been more dedicated.

Barkan Meizlish DeRose Cox, LLP is a nationally recognized law firm with decades of experience representing clients throughout the United States in matters of personal injury, catastrophic injury, and employment law—specifically wage and hour violations. For sixty-five years Barkan Meizlish has fulfilled our commitment to provide quality legal services to working people including those who are inj

ured on the job, are unable to work at all due to an injury or disability, or who are injured due to the negligence of another. Today, Barkan Meizlish represents thousands of people from our offices in Ohio. At no other time has representing the injured and disabled been more challenging. Likewise, it is not an exaggeration to say that the rights of employees and their unions are under attack by employers, elected officials and the legal system. Those who seek to weaken the rights of working people and their unions, the injured and the disabled continue to lobby Congress and the legislatures across America with measured success. Their goal is to enact laws and obtain legal decisions that limit or eliminate benefits the injured and disabled so richly deserve and to create an economy where businesses reap all of the rewards and have all the power rather than sharing it with its employees. But the lawyers, paralegals and staff at Barkan Meizlish are ready to meet the challenge every day. We understand that how well we do our job makes a difference in the quality of life for each of our clients and their families.

We've filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of servers and bartenders at The Goat Restaurant and Bar locations in Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. The complaint alleges that The Goat paid tipped employees a sub-minimum hourly wage while failing to meet the legal requirements that make a tip credit valid. Specifically, the complaint alleges that management employees received a share of workers' earned tips, that $1 was deducted from each tip payment processed through the Kickfin software, and that employees regularly performed substantial non-tipped work, such as stocking and janitorial duties, while still being paid at the lower tipped rate. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act and Ohio Wage Laws, employers must meet strict legal requirements before they can pay workers less than the full minimum wage. When those requirements aren't satisfied, workers are entitled to recover the difference. If you work or have worked as a server or bartender at The Goat, you may have the right to recover unpaid wages. Contact us for a free, confidential consultation. Link in bio. The complaint contains allegations only. No verdict or settlement has been reached.
