Quick question for our business owner friends: if you and your business partner had a falling out tomorrow, is there a plan in place, or are you just hoping it never happens?

Allison's latest blog covers two tools every Ohio business owner should know about. The Series LLC lets you segregate assets under one company (with some strict bookkeeping rules to actually keep that protection intact). And the Buy-Sell Agreement is basically insurance for your partnership, spelling out what happens if an owner dies, divorces, or wants out, before anyone actually needs to use it.

Probate is basically a lawsuit against yourself after you die.

That's not a joke. It's a court supervised process that freezes all of your assets, pays off your debts, and gives whatever's left to your family. It can take months, sometimes years. And it's public record, so anyone can see what you owned, what you owed, and who inherited what.
