Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council Creating change to improve independence and inclusion for Ohioans with developmental disabilities. We provide this information as a public service.

The Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council (ODDC) is a planning and advocacy body committed to community inclusion for people with disabilities. ODDC is funded under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, Public Law 106-402. ODDC is a partner within the Ohio DD Network which includes Ohio's Protection & Advocacy System (Disability Rights Ohio) and Ohio's two University

Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities: The Nisonger Center of The Ohio State University and the Cincinnati Children's Medical Center of the University of Cincinnati. The Ohio DD Council uses its page to provide information about the Council. The Ohio DD Council also to share news from other organizations. Through its Five-Year State Plan, the Ohio DD Council supports initiatives that help people with developmental disabilities live better lives.

These projects focus on advancing systems change, independent living, and building inclusive communities across the state.

The goal is to create change that improves independence, productivity, and inclusion for people with DD and their families in community life.

The Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council is seeking applications through a Notice of Funds Available (NOFA) to address gaps in services for individuals with developmental disabilities and families from marginalized communities.

The grants offered will fall under the following areas that are important to people with developmental disabilities:
- public policy
- children’s issues
- outreach
- employment
- leadership development
- community living

Meet ODDC Community Ambassador Brad Harris!

Brad Harris is a self-advocate from Lucas County who recently completed his work as the latest Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council (ODDC) Community Ambassador.

For his project, Brad focused on transportation access for Ohioans with disabilities. He spoke with self-advocates and professionals at the Ohio Statehouse during Developmental Disabilities (DD) Advocacy and Awareness Day on March 4, 2026.

ODDC is sharing information about the Ohio Young Adult Advocacy Council (OYAC).

OYAC is a statewide initiative designed to elevate the voices of young adults with disabilities. Members participate in opportunities to inform and influence policies, programs, and services that affect their lives.

This collaborative effort includes several state partners:
- Department of Education and Workforce (DEW)
- Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities (OCECD)
- Ohio State University Family Engagement Center
- Ohio National Interstate (ONI)
- Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD)
- Ohio Self-Determination Association (OSDA)
- State Support Teams

OYAC is currently recruiting new members. Email [email protected] to learn more or join.

Wood County Board of DD is excited to share that, as part of their Tech Hub Expansion grant, they have partnered with Kan Du Group to create a 3D printing program!

Individuals served by all county boards of DD in Ohio can request 3D printed items and they will be shipped directly to them.

Limit of 2 for free. Subject to availability.
