The passion and care she takes with her position is unmatched! I supervise a total of 21 employees in the Office of the Solicitor General. I conduct trials as lead and co-counsel; conduct motions and hearings; prepare pre-trial discovery materials; prepare and conduct cases for arraignment and cases for incarcerated defendants; preside over the Mental Health Court; evaluate requests for record res
trictions of criminal records; teach law enforcement courses on how to handle domestic violence cases at the West Central Georgia Police Academy, Columbus Police Department in-service annual training; assist with preparation and submission of annual county budget for Columbus Consolidated Government; assist with conducting staff meetings and train new prosecutors. In addition to my duties as a Solicitor General, I also have responsibilities to remain sensitive to the needs of all victims and witnesses; conduct criminal background checks; coordinate prosecution efforts with other governmental agencies; respond to inquiries form the media, other law enforcement officials and agencies, and the public in general regarding current law and law enforcement status; work with community organizations on a volunteer basis to assist educational efforts for the youth of this city and the public at large; conduct law enforcement training classes on current law status, courtroom testimony and procedures and any other topics requested upon which we can provide expertise; provide prosecutorial training upon request for by the Prosecuting Attorney's Council; and maintain continuing legal education as required by the State Bar of Georgia and traveling to seminar locations as required. I participate or am associated with Columbus Bar Association; Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (Treasurer, 2005-2006); Chattahoochee Bar Association (former President); Georgia Association of Solicitors-General (Member since 1997); Girls Incorporated (former Secretary); New Horizons Community Service Board Member (2005-2013); Leadership Columbus (2007); Domestic Violence Roundtable; National Alliance for the Mentally Ill; Member of the Exchange Club of Columbus since 2007; Coordinated Prevention of Child Abuse Fund Raisers; Board Member and Past Trustee of the Historic District of Columbus Preservation Society. I am a certified mediator with 85 hours of comprehensive training in general and divorce mediation through the Third District Administrative District, Office of Dispute Resolution. I was honored with the 2007 Woman of Achievement Award from the Girl Scouts of Concharty Council, Inc. and the Dedicated Service Award from the Girls Incorporated of Columbus and Phenix City.
