Another victory for our firm on Tuesday October 21, 2025!

A trial was held in the Court of Common Pleas in Delaware County Ohio. In this case I represented KH Excavating LLC. in KH Excavating v. 2K General Company. This was a complicated construction case involving a bankruptcy and unjust enrichment. This is the fourth full trial of my career and I've won three in a row now!

I won my first criminal trial on Thursday. My client was being tried for disrupting a public meeting. I generally do not do criminally work, but this is a civil client who needed the help.

Rita Nguyen said justice prevailed in the not guilty verdict after she was arrested while speaking at a Nelsonville city council meeting.

Today, I filed an amicus brief in the Supreme Court of Ohio on behalf of Associated Builders and Contractors of Central Ohio and Ohio. In the brief I argue that the Court should crack down on a practice called "shotgun pleadings" that are recognized as inadequate in federal courts. These types of pleadings are an unfair burden on construction companies that drive up the costs of construction. You can read the whole brief here:

So far, we're having a great year. Our firm won a case at the Ohio Supreme Court and gained five favorable settlements so far this year. Today, another success. In a case in the Court of Common Pleas for Fayette County, Ohio, I represent the American Legion Department of Ohio and two of its District Commanders. It is a defamation case. Long story short...we refused to compromise on the case and stood our ground. Last month, I filed a motion, requesting the Court to decide the case on the filings (called "summary judgment"). The other side dismissed the case today rather than respond. Very satisfying victory.

Tomorrow morning (Friday Feb. 14) I have oral arguments in the U.S. District Court about a First Amendment Free Speech case. This case involves the speech of a student criticizing a teacher off campus. I'll let you know how it goes!
