Qualifications:
• Must have 3-5 years of experience in a law firm functioning as a paralegal or legal assistant/secretary for a law practice involving real estate, litigation, or business services.
• Working knowledge of legal terminology and civil procedure.
• Ability to perform complex administrative and legal work requiring the exercise of considerable independent judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• High School Diploma.
• Microsoft Office proficiency in Word and Excel. Adobe Acrobat is a plus.
Job Description
Hallowes Law Group (“HLG”) is small friendly law practice in Blacklick, Ohio, representing clients in simple to complex legal matters involving commercial transactions and litigation in Ohio and Federal courts through the U.S. HLG seeks a driven and reliable paralegal or legal assistant to join their team in providing superior legal services. Applicants who can work independently and as a team while keeping client matters organized and on schedule will excel in this position.
Responsibilities will include assisting in preparing legal documents (e.g., contracts and court filings) and reports for review, approval, or use by licensed attorneys; transcription; prepare court pleadings; maintain active federal and/or state case files and dockets, and familiarity with electronic filing; maintain attorney calendars and provide attorney alerts on upcoming legal matters and hearings; assist attorneys in organization and preparation of discovery in civil cases; assist attorneys with processing public records requests and subpoenas and perform shared administrative duties and respond to/follow up with general client inquiries. Applicant should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Applicants should also be proficient in proofreading documents for spelling, punctuation, syntax, and grammar.
