We are hiring again for a Family Law Attorney!

Associate, Senior Associate, or Senior Attorney – Based on Experience

Hybrid Position | Offices in Montgomery & Howard Counties, Maryland

Family Legal Advocacy Group is seeking a motivated and skilled family law litigator to join our firm. This position may be structured as an Associate, Senior Associate, or Senior Attorney role depending on experience, skill level, and demonstrated ability.

This is a hybrid position with offices in Montgomery County and Howard County. Most of our attorneys work remotely 2–3 days per week, with in-office time focused on court, client meetings, collaboration, and team connection.

This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer who is ready to take their practice to the next level—with greater independence, meaningful responsibility, and the support of a strong team—or for a solo practitioner who wants to focus more on practicing law and less on managing a firm, while being part of a well-structured, collaborative environment.

We are seeking an attorney who:

Has meaningful family law litigation experience (required)
Has experience practicing in Maryland (Montgomery County and/or Howard County strongly preferred)
Is confident managing cases with increasing autonomy within a team setting
Is collaborative, prepared, and professional in and out of court
Promotes settlement when appropriate, but litigates strategically and effectively when necessary
Values high standards, strong advocacy, and balanced practice

This role is ideal for someone who:

Wants mentorship and trust (not micromanagement)
Seeks increased independence and responsibility as their skills grow
May have been a solo practitioner and prefers to focus on practicing law rather than running a firm
Is looking for long-term professional growth within a supportive team

The Role

Depending on experience level, you will manage a meaningful caseload of complex family law matters, including contested custody, support, and property division cases. Responsibilities may include:
Handling hearings, settlement conferences, and trials;
Strategically managing cases from intake through resolution;
Drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery;
Collaborating with partners and team members on complex litigation;
Contributing to firm growth and culture.

We value preparation, sound judgment, professionalism with opposing counsel, and strong courtroom presence.

Growth & Leadership

For attorneys interested in long-term leadership, a path to partnership is available and based on performance, initiative, and alignment with firm values—not arbitrary timelines.

For those who prefer to remain focused primarily on high-level advocacy without pursuing partnership, that path is equally respected.

We believe attorneys should define success in a way that aligns with their strengths and goals.

Qualifications

Licensed and in good standing in Maryland
Minimum of 3 years of family law litigation experience required
5+ years of experience strongly preferred
Experience practicing in Montgomery and/or Howard Counties is a plus
Strong writing, analytical, and courtroom skills
Demonstrated ability (or growing ability) to manage cases independently

Bonus: Admission to the District of Columbia Bar is a plus, as we are actively growing our family law presence in DC.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and title level. We offer a collegial, organized, and high-performing environment where attorneys are trusted, supported, and positioned to do their best work. We also offer a 401(k) match and health insurance.

If you are looking for a firm where you can practice at a high level, grow intentionally, and be part of a strong team culture, we would welcome a conversation. All inquiries will be held in strict confidence.

To apply, please submit your resume and a brief cover letter describing your family law litigation experience and what you are seeking in your next role to:
