We’re pleased to congratulate Charleston shareholder Rich Dukes on his re-election to the Board of Directors of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC) for the 2026–2027 term and his appointment as Co-Chair of the FDCC Evolve – AI and Technology Committee.

In this role, Richard will help lead the committee’s work exploring the legal and practical implications of AI and emerging technologies, including their impact on litigation, risk management and business operations.

Richard was inducted alongside the FDCC’s officers and directors at the organization’s 2026 Annual Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal.

Our Trust & Estates team was proud to present yesterday at the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association Summer Meeting in Myrtle Beach.

Melody Breeden, David Johnson, and Chase O’Reilly led a session on “When Families Don’t Have a Plan—Probate Basics & Authorization Issues for Funeral Homes,” sharing practical guidance on handling these complex and sensitive situations.
