The answer is nearly EVERYTHING!
On nearly a daily basis I speak to people who say "well, nothing can be done until we're separated for a year, anyway."
Couldn't be farther from the truth. You should be talking to a lawyer, planning, gathering information, and ideally discussing with your spouse BEFORE you separate, filing a separate support and maintenance case shortly after separation, and using the year to move the case forward. Often, this is the only way to actually get divorced in the general vicinity of the one-year mark.
