From a D-Plus to a C-Minus… What SC's New Infrastructure Report Card Means for Your Next Move 🚚🌴
It's no secret that South Carolina is growing fast. Since 2020, our state has welcomed roughly 450,000 new residents, bringing our population to an estimated 5.6 million! 📈
With growth like that, people considering a move here ask a fair question: "Can the infrastructure keep up?"

I believe in total transparency. As your real estate professional, I want you fully informed about every detail of the place you'll call home. 🏠✨

The American Society of Civil Engineers just released its 2026 Report Card for South Carolina's Infrastructure, and our overall grade moved up from a D-plus to a C-minus.

That's real progress, driven by state and federal investment. Our ports earned a B-plus, and Charleston Harbor is now the deepest port on the East Coast! ⚓

Now for the honest part. 💧 Drinking water received a D, down from a D-plus in 2021. The report points to aging pipelines and an increase in water violations as the main reasons. Many utilities are working on upgrades, but conditions vary from community to community.

Here's my advice for any family buying a home, whether you're coming from out of state or moving across town:

✅ Look up the annual Water Quality Report for the home's water utility. Every public water system is required to publish one, and it shows exactly what's in your water.
✅ If the home has a private well, get the water tested before closing.
✅ Consider a quality water filter. Choose one certified to NSF standards for the specific concerns in your area, so you know it actually does the job.

The water your family drinks every day deserves the same research as the square footage and the school district. 💙
