A native of Sumter, he proudly graduated from Sumter High and furthered his education by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama. He continued his academic journey at the University of South Carolina Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1991. With a career spanning several reputable firms, Mr. Finney began his legal profession as a law clerk in 1988 with Swerling & Harpootlian. He went on to work with esteemed local firms, including Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough, and the McNair Law Firm. He later served as an Assistant Solicitor in the Solicitor’s Office in Lexington County, where he distinguished himself as a prosecutor for several years. In 1996, Attorney Finney joined Suggs & Kelly Law Firm, where he practiced law in various areas, such as personal injury, criminal defense, and family law. Finney decided to establish his own practice, founding the Finney Law Firm in July 1999. He later incorporated it as The Finney Law Firm, Inc. Mr. Finney’s expertise spans a wide range of legal areas, including State and federal Criminal Defense, Wills and Estate Law, Wrongful Death, Automobile Accidents, On-The-Job Injuries, Personal Injury, and Workers’ Compensation. He has been admitted to the South Carolina Bar since 1984 and is also qualified to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals 4th Circuit and the South Carolina Supreme Court.
