Philosophy & Approach
Throughout his career practicing criminal defense, Chad has developed a strong recognition that when a person is facing criminal charges, their family, children, and friends are affected too. At stake is a person’s liberty, as well as their personal and professional reputations in the community. Whether you are navigating the legal system in Greenville, Spartanburg, or surrounding Upstate communities, no one should face the stress and burdens of criminal charges alone.
Chad understands that an experienced, local criminal defense attorney is essential. From the very beginning of an investigation, he provides aggressive and zealous representation to ensure his clients' liberties are fully protected and fights for the best possible outcome in local courtrooms.
Focused Experience & Local Background
Having been raised in the Upstate of South Carolina, Chad is proud to have called Greenville home for the majority of his life and is deeply familiar with the region's legal landscape. After graduating from Greenville High School, Chad attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in political science and history. He then attended The Charleston School of Law, graduating Cum Laude with Honors.
While in law school, Chad competed in Moot Court, was a member of the Federal Courts Law Review, and served as an articles editor for MALABU, the Maritime Law Bulletin. He received CALI awards—given to the student who achieves the highest grade in their class—in Legal Writing and Research, Historic Preservation Law, and Criminal Law. He also worked with the South Carolina Commission on Indigent Defense in the Division of Capital Defenders, advocating for those facing the death penalty. This role sparked Chad’s desire to focus his career entirely on criminal defense.
After law school, Chad returned to the Upstate to join the 13th Circuit Public Defender’s Office as an Assistant Public Defender in Greenville. He continued his dedication to local defense when he was promoted to Deputy Public Defender of the Pickens County Public Defender’s Office. Today, his private practice brings that extensive, localized courtroom experience to clients across the Greenville-Spartanburg area.
Chad is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (National Criminal Defense College). He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Greenville County Bar, the Greenville Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
When he is not working, Chad can be found spending time with his wife and two young children, enjoying the outdoors, attempting to master the intricacies of cooking good barbeque, or passionately rooting for the Atlanta Braves.
