What happens if I try to represent myself in court?

If you're in Maryland and believe you acted in self-defense after being charged with a crime, then you must have met these four criteria before you can claim it:

1. You were not the aggressor. It is okay if you were the initial aggressor, such as starting an argument. But you must not be the one who escalated the situation.

2. You actually believed that you were in immediate and imminent danger of bodily harm, and that your belief is reasonable.

3. You used no more force than was reasonably necessary to defend yourself in light of the threat or actual harm.

4. The absence of one of the factors above may show the Judge or jury that you did not necessarily act in self-defense.

All factors must be present. The next question is where people are allowed to legally smoke, and do I need to worry about my children being exposed?Smoking w**d is allowed in your own home or a friend’s home in Maryland. However, smoking of cannabis in specified locations, including public places, is prohibited by law and is a civil offense that may be penalized by up to a $50 fine for a first offense. Subsequent offenses can incur fines up to $150. The law also prohibits a driver from smoking cannabis in motor vehicles. Some counties, like Prince George’s County, do not allow smoking of any kind in their public parks, including ci******es, ci**rs, etc. Ma*****na is still illegal federally, so smoking w**d is not allowed on federal land or in national parks.
