This is a scam text that is currently going around. If you receive it, don’t click on the link/QR code or send any money. The court will never serve you a summons like this by text and if you receive a summons another way, you will have several weeks notice, not 1-2 days (that’s how they scare people into paying by forcing you to make a decision on short notice over the weekend). If you ever receive something like this and are not sure if it’s legit, the best thing to do is call the court directly the next business day and ask them (look up the number online/ don’t use the number on the alleged summons).

The message below is an example of a scam text being sent out claiming you owe money to a court.

Do NOT click any links or send any money.
Courts will not contact you by text message demanding payment.

If you ever receive something like this and aren’t sure if it’s real:
Look up the court’s official phone number online
Call them directly during normal business hours to verify

When in doubt, don’t trust the text. Verify it.
