Proposed bill would create a presumption of equal parenting time in Colorado cases, requiring clear & convincing evidence to rebut.

The domestic relations bar has defeated similar attempts to establish presumptive parenting in the past, and presumably, this proposal will suffer the same fate.

Some big changes to Colorado child support in 2025, including eliminating the 93-overnight threshold previously used for Worksheet A vs Worksheet B determinations, getting rid of the $250 per-child-per-year threshold for extraordinary medical expenses, and giving courts flexibility to allocate the children's tax exemptions instead of them being proportional to income.

Colorado has taken a significant step away from no-fault divorces with a new statute that requires courts to consider domestic violence when determining alimony payments. And the definition of domestic violence is pretty broad, incorporating both actual violence, as well as coercive control, economic abuse, emotional abuse, and litigation abuse.

2025 law requires judges to consider domestic violence for alimony purposes, including physical/sexual abuse, coercive control & emotional abuse.
