for those that have lost a loved one... Papers - 7 year hold to those except for a few specific (DD214, marriage license, death certs, birth certs, mortgage if still paying on it). Everything else - get rid of it. DO NOT LEAVE ALL THE PICTURES IN A BOX UNDER YOUR DESK. Dad has been gone 7 years, still working on it. Take pictures of valuables - label who gets what in the pics. (this is good for insurance claims as well). If you want something to go to someone besides your spouse or children - write it down, date it, notarize it. and make sure the executor has a copy of the list. Make a will. Seriously. Your grandkids and siblings are not your heirs

PEOPLE. remember when you go through a divorce or parenting issue - you are not the other parties secretary or assistant. Their scheduling problems are their scheduling problems. Their need for public information is their need for public information. The web is a wonderful thing. Do not move to solve their problems. The joy of adulting is learning to solve your own problems.

for all. the Byrnes Law Firm wishes everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Be supportive of friends and family in this crazy year. Do not suffer through alone. If you need an outlet, call your best friend. Coffee with a friend is within the restrictions and my alleviate some stress caused by being alone.

so. Thanksgiving is around the corner. Do something outside of the box for your kids. If you and the ex are not at war - invite them over for dinner. The kids get to see their parents being adults, cordial and actually trying to do something for them! Remember - kids remember these holidays and the stress, hurt, and anger at having to not be with both parents on the special days.
