Okay, I'm kind of saying it.

The adjuster is friendly, but they're not on your side. Their job is to close your claim for as little as possible, and a recorded statement given before you've talked to anyone can come back to haunt you.

You don't have to answer their questions right away. Call me first and we will make sure you’re covered.

Wondering what happens when you call a personal injury lawyer? Here's how it works with me.

First, a quick call to get the basics: where the accident happened, what your injuries are, and who was at fault. Then we set up an in-person meeting. I prefer meeting clients face to face because I want to get to know you, and you should get a feel for me too. I'll help find doctors and set up financing for treatment if you need it. I'll also explain what I do during your case, what I need from you, and how everyone gets paid, including your medical care and your health insurance.

If you weren't injured, or the accident was your fault, I can't help, and that's a call for your insurance company. But if you were hurt, give us a call.

Most people expect a car accident to mean broken bones. It often doesn't.

Modern cars absorb a lot of the energy, so the most common injuries are soft tissue injuries: muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Think whiplash. Your head is basically a bowling ball, and when you get hit from behind, momentum throws it forward and back. Add the gap between your head and the headrest (most of us aren't sitting pressed against it, especially after a long day), and it travels even further. Side impacts do something similar by twisting your head and body at different speeds.

These injuries don't always show up right away, and they're real even when the X-rays look clean. If you've been in a crash and something feels off, get checked out (then give us a call).

Introducing a new series: the top 10 most dangerous intersections in Colorado Springs.
We're counting down from #10, starting next week. You drive these roads every day, so tell us: which intersection do you avoid if you can? Drop it in the comments, and see if it makes the list.

Sounds obvious, but it's one of the most common things that goes wrong.

Life gets busy, appointments get missed, advice gets skipped. Not because you don't care, just because things happen. But insurance companies don't see it that way. They see the record. If your lawyer tells you to do something that feels like a hassle, ask why before you skip it.

I got into this work because I watched insurance companies treat injured people like a number instead of a person, and I couldn't keep being part of that. Now I get to be the person actually in someone's corner when it matters. When I'm not doing that, I'm probably at a race, at a kid's event, or losing an argument to one of my children.

This one surprises people every time, but it's true.

Insurance companies don't just look at your injury, they look at your treatment record. Gaps in physical therapy, missed appointments, stopping too soon, all of it gets read as "maybe it wasn't that serious." It doesn't matter if you missed a session because of work, kids, or just being exhausted. On paper, it looks the same as not caring about your recovery.

Show up to your appointments. It protects your health, and it protects your case.

If that's you, here's the short version: the first offer is never the final offer, and you don't have to figure out what's fair on your own. Give me a call, you have nothing to lose and everything to win.

Unpopular opinion: picking a lawyer based on the biggest billboard could cost you thousands.

A billboard doesn't tell you how someone negotiates, or whether they'll fight for a fair number instead of settling fast. Ask about experience. Ask what happens if the first offer is a lowball. And ask who you'll actually be talking to, will it be your lawyer, or an assistant handling your file?

At Kimball Injury Law, you have direct access to me. I'm responsive, and I handle your case myself, not a paralegal. Consultations are free.
