Looking for something to do next week? How about a Grand Opening???

Explore the park and have fun with us as the Chesterfield County celebrates International Day of Play at the grand opening of The Park at River City Sportsplex from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 11.

Activities will include a bubble machine, scavenger hunt, and demonstrations from Rockwood Nature Center.

Free Kona Ice will be available with food and drinks available to purchase from vendors.

Admission is free. The Park at River City Sportsplex is located at 13030 Genito Road.

When she became a military spouse, Jenna Henderson’s idea of Memorial Day changed too. “I used to be like so many other Americans. I was rather oblivious to what Memorial Day really was about,” said Jenna Henderson, widow of Army Sergeant First Class Chris Henderson, who died in Afghanistan in 2007 at the age of 35, leaving behind Henderson and their daughter, Kayley.

“Once Chris was killed in action in Afghanistan, the day became even more surreal. I looked up the history of the day and realized there is a long tradition,” said Henderson.” Behind every man or woman that gave the ultimate sacrifice is a family remembering that loss on Memorial Day.”

Please take a moment to read this article and then reflect on what this day means. To the military members who paid the ultimate sacrifice, their family, friends and comrades, my sincere thank you.

"Aging in place..."

We have been in our home since 2007. Once you stop PCSing, it is amazing how quickly stuff begins to accumulate. You buy a new lamp, but you put the old one in the attic because the kids might want it one day - news flash, they normally don't, especially the girls!

So on this rainy day weekend I'm hitting the bonus room (i.e.DOOM room - Didn't Organize, Only Moved) and attic. As I opened a box, I thought it was funny that this article was on top!
