Now that summer is here it is time to prepare for all the fun outdoor activities at your home. Most people assume just cutting the grass, pulling some weeds, and trimming the hedges as all that really needs to be completed. Unfortunately, to help maintain the beauty and value of your home there are some other items I would add to your list.

WASH THE HOUSE- Wash away all the winter grim and spring dust. Clean windows, screens, and hose off the dirt, grit, and mildew from the exterior. The grime can damage your paint and masonry over time. So please spray with a mild detergent that won't harm the wonder landscape and hose it off.

CLEAN THE GUTTERS- Gutters are a huge part of controlling water flow that can damage your roof, walls, and foundation so making sure these are not clogged will help prevent damage from occurring during your time owning the house.

PAINT- If you see p*eling, chipping, or flaking paint you may need to touch up or do a full new coat of paint before the heat and rains from the summer come in and damaged exposed surfaces.

Again if you are not very skilled with any of these tasks I highly encourage you to call a professional and utilize their time to teach you on how to maintain the exterior of your home for years to come.

When people think about fences, they tend to think about privacy, aesthetics, or security, but the last thing people really think about is the maintenance that you should be doing to your fence so that all three can still be preserved. Especially, with the high costs of replacement of fences it is important to ensure you are completing the maintenance so that your fence lasts you a long time.

CLEAN IT- Dirt can keep moisture and attract insects which can be threats to your fence. While this seems like a simple fix many property owners struggle to keep up with the cleaning. Ensure you use cleaners that are specially formulated of the material you are cleaning whether it is wood, stone, or iron. Remove rust from iron fences

PROTECT IT- The foundation of any fence is protecting it against the weather and insect damage without protection the look nor the structure will last very long. When it comes to rot the trick is to stop it from absorbing moisture so you will want to apply a moisture repelling oil-based wood stain or all weather paint and wax for iron fences.

FIX IT- While some damage may seem insignificant at first it will add up before you know it. The best way to ensure other parts of a fence aren’t taking on the strain of another loose part or broken piece is to ensure you fix the part that is broken promptly.

The famous Will Rogers who started life as a cowhand said there are three kinds of men. “The one that learns by reading. The few who learn my observation. The rest of them have to p*e on the electric fence for themselves.”

Please do not be the latter read up on ways to maintain your fence. If you feel overwhelmed call the professionals at Fence Pros of Texas let them help you build or maintain your fence so it can last for years to come.

Happy Luke Day!!! This day is to meant to honor our the NextHome mascot Luke!! Today is used to step away from our business and come together to serve our local areas. This year the Team at NextHome Realty Solutions BCS rolled up our sleeve to help Paws and Claws Wildlife Rehabilitation with some much needed supplies and to feed baby raccoons and foxes. This was an absolute honor and I cannot wait for other opportunities to help our community.

HAPPY FLAG DAY!!
On June 14, 1777, America’s brand new Congress signed a resolution finalizing the original design of the United States flag. It said the flag should have “thirteen stripes of alternate red and white, with a union of thirteen stars of white in a blue field, representing the new constellation.” Over the years, the star pattern has been updated as new states were added to the union, with the most recent update in 1959 that created the 50-star design we know today.
In honor of this day, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed June 14 as Flag Day in 1916 and then following the end of the war in 1949 Congress officially made June 14 National Flag Day, which we continue to recognize to this day.
