BREAKING: SpaceX is moving toward a record-breaking IPO, selecting Goldman Sachs for the lead left position on its prospectus, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Morgan Stanley will follow, with Bank of America, Citigroup, and JPMorgan Chase rounding out the underwriting lineup.

The Brevard County-based rocket company confidentially filed with the SEC last month and could publicly disclose its prospectus as soon as today. SpaceX was most recently valued at $1.25 trillion after Elon Musk merged the company with his AI startup xAI in February.

Only Facebook and Alibaba have ever closed their first trading day on U.S. exchanges above $100 billion in market cap. SpaceX could shatter that record.

The IPO prospectus drops just days after a jury in Oakland ruled Musk waited too long to sue OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman over promises to keep the company a nonprofit. District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers immediately adopted the verdict. Musk called it a โ€œcalendar technicalityโ€ and vowed to appeal.

The last time Musk took a company public was Tesla in 2010, also led by Goldman Sachs.
