Seth is a native of Dickenson County, Virginia and a graduate of Clinch Valley College (now the University of Virginia’s College at Wise) and the Appalachian School of Law. Seth learned his hard work ethic and rural values while working for Joe Lee and Lema at the Cumberland Times Newspaper and later in their country store. He currently serves on the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program board, as co-chair of the Dickenson County Community Partners for Prevention Coalition, and co-chair of the Appalachian Substance Abuse Coalition. Seth is passionate about his work in substance abuse prevention, as Dickenson County was number one in Virginia and number six in the nation for substance misuse related deaths in 2014. Addressing the opioid epidemic has been a primary concern of Seth’s first term as Commonwealth’s Attorney of Dickenson County. He is a founding member of the Dickenson County Drug Court, showing that recovery is possible. In his first term, Seth has fought to make Dickenson County a safer and more just place for his family and yours. Seth is a member of Masonic Lodge #66 of Clintwood, a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association and a proud supporter of the United Mine Workers Association. In his free time, he enjoys working on his farm and serves as Vice-President of the Coalfield Sheep Association. Seth lives in Clintwood with his wife Melonie, a registered dental hygienist and community partner, and their two sons.
